Ventura County AIDS Partnership's mission is to strengthen the County’s response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic by raising and allocating funds specifically to fill the unmet needs in HIV prevention and AIDS care services in Ventura County.
Ventura County AIDS Partnership (VCAP) provides much needed funding for local HIV/AIDS programs and collaborative leadership. An Advisory Council, composed of volunteer professionals and community leaders, provides primary governance and works with our 50% time Executive Director. VCAP reports to AIDS United and as our legal and fiscal sponsor to United Way of Ventura County’s Board of Directors. VCAP is co-convened by United Way of Ventura County and Ventura County Community Foundation.
VCAP grants funding to qualified, local nonprofits via one grant cycle per year. We raise funds locally from private donations, foundations and special events. We fund high impact, local HIV prevention efforts and patient care services for low-income people living with AIDS.
VCAP’s role in the community is evolving from being a grant maker to also including programmatic activities such as the HIV/AIDS Latino Taskforce. The Taskforce is a countywide collaboration consisting of leaders from the agricultural, business, public health, and non-profit sectors, the school system and other key stakeholders. This project is engaging local Latino leaders in community organizing and advocacy in an effort to prevent HIV infection.
This is an exciting time at VCAP and we encourage you to learn more and get involved! |
